Ontonagon County, Michigan
Welcome to Bergland Township
Bergland Township, located in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is the Gateway to Lake Gogebic, the U.P.’s largest inland lake!
The township government provides a variety of important public services: fire protection, water and sewer utilities, parks, cemeteries, building and zoning permitting, assessment and taxation, and elections. Bergland Township is governed by a five-member board of trustees.
Our township is nestled in the million-acre Ottawa National Forest and slightly south of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, Michigan’s largest state park. Outdoor activities are plentiful in both the summer and the winter. There is easy access to hundreds of miles of off-road vehicle, snowmobile, and hiking trails. The Bergland Township Park is a pleasant and convenient home base for recreation.
