Electric UTV Charging Station

Bergland Township has partnered with Polaris, Inc. to host one of four Ontonagon County charging stations for Ranger XP Kinetic side-by-side UTVs. The electric UTV (E-UTV) initiative, funded in part by a private/public partnership grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, utilizes existing off-road vehicle trails that were carefully selected to accommodate E-UTVs (but remain open to the general public for any legal trail use).

Though intended mainly for off-road vehicles, the charging station, with four J1772 ports, can be used free of charge by any electric vehicle, which is one reason the township is hosting the unit as a public amenity. Please make a stop in Bergland – including our park and area businesses – part of your EV travels!

It’s Bigger than Bergland

Bergland is a major hub in the U.P.’s network of hundreds of miles of off-road vehicle and snowmobile trails. The E-UTV route uses only a small subset of them. Other charging stations are located in Downtown Ontonagon, Adventure Mine (Greenland), and Hamilton’s North Coast Adventures (east of White Pine), which also rents out the Kinetic UTVs. This map on the Bergland charger site shows details.

If you prefer a more traditional snowmobile or ORV experience, dealers and rentors of these vehicles are available in our township as well!
