The office of Bergland Township Treasurer will become vacant at the end of August 21, 2025.
The Township Board is accepting letters of interest from qualified applicants (must be registered to vote in Bergland Township). In a letter of interest, please include an explanation of why you are interested in the position and an overview of relevant qualifications.
The office of treasurer in a Michigan township is a hybrid of a legislative role (voting member of township board) and various required statutory duties. These duties include:
- Collect real and personal property taxes
- Keep an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures
- Issue township checks
- Deposit township revenues in approved depositories
- Invest township funds in approved investment vehicles
- Collect delinquent personal property tax
- Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting property tax
- Collect mobile home specific tax
- Must appoint a deputy
- Must post a surety bond

LETTERS OF INTEREST ARE DUE ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2025 and shall be submitted in one of the following ways:

- By mail or hand delivery to Bergland Township, 101 Pine St, PO Box 326, Bergland, MI 49910
Letters will be considered at the Thursday, August 21 (6:30 pm) – Township Board meeting. Applicants are recommended to attend.
